Is Avodart And Finasteride The Same Medication?
Is Avodart and finasteride the same medication? My husband has taken .5 mg of Avodart for several years for an enlarged prostate. Recently we received a new prescription in the mail for Finasterid 5 mg. The doctor did not tell him she was changing meds. We were wondering is this the same?

Different chemical (slightly) that does essentially the same thing at the same dose. They are similar. Drug insurers auction off which they allow to get lower prices.
