Is Aspirin Safe To Be Consumed To Shrink Fibroids?

A few years ago I was told I had fibroids that were blocking my menstrual flow. I could not do the birth control she prescribed to shrink them..so I tried aspirin....well asprin is a blood thinner and brings on the menstrual almost a little to much....is the aspirin good for the fibroids and is this healthy, or should I continue my plan to have surgery in few months?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
It is a very bad idea to use aspirin to shrink fibroid. Aspirin is not effective in fibroid and it is not a blood thinner. It prevents blood coagulation by acting as an anti – coagulant. It is not a blood thinner. Instead it will increase bleeding due to fibroid. Aspirin will harm you by increasing blood loss. Medicines are available for shrinking the fibroid. But cure is possible by surgery.
Advice
1.     Discuss with your gynecologist for treatment of fibroid by medicine versus surgery. Treatment depends upon size of fibroid and symptoms. Smaller asymptomatic fibroid often regress spontaneously
2.     Ferrous sulfate tablet – one tablet daily for 2 months
3.     Folic acid 5 mg daily per oral for 2 months
4.     Investigation – USG abdomen & pelvis, Hb%
Thanks
