Is Advil Advisable Before A Scheduled Bowel Resection Surgery?

Hi my husband was scheduled for a laparoscopic small intestine bowel resection but due to his EKG results it has been rescheduled for another week, is it safe for him to take an advil liquid gel tablet as he is experiencing severe pain and we went to the emergency but they did not give him any medication, just sent him home
