What Causes Severe Constipation Post Bowel Resection Surgery?

I had a bowel resection 27years ago. I have always had bowel pain and had a lot of hemroids remove around thhe scar tissue and removed stitches from the area as well, had that done about 5 years ago, Now I go to the toilet every 5 days or so with loose motions, it is a constant wave until it empties and then wait 5 more days or so, I take movicol every day to enable me to go. I also suffer from oesphical spasms and believe the both are contected. I have a lot of wind and take liquid gavison daily for the spasm attacks which are painful. I believe the bowel is restricted which bulks up the poo and hence gives me spasms as well. Is there a sulotion for the bowel to be repaired or something. I have had 5 adominal surgeries and have a lot of problems with adheshions. Sorry about the spelling. YYYY@YYYY

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I think you should visit a gastroenterologist as soon as possible. A colonoscopy should be performed to check your colon because the problem is so specific. Don't get any treatment by your own.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka, General & Family Physician
