Hi,

Actonel(Risedronate) is a member of a class of drugs known as bisphosphonates.

It is used to prevent and treat osteoporosis in adults.

This medication works by slowing bone loss to help maintain strong bones and reduce the risk of fractures.

There has been some evidence that Actonel works more quickly to prevent fractures particularly the all-too-common hip and non-spine fractures that can greatly reduce a person's quality of life.

So yes you have been prescribed the correct medicine for your condition.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
