Is AST Value Of 43 A Cause For Concern?

I have an AST result of 43 and some abdominal discomfort. I was told to cut down on alcohol but I only drink a maximum of 6 units a week. (Some weeks no alcohol.) I am overweight and trying to do more exercise as I have a sedentary profession. One strange thing I have noticed: since the menopause alcohol seems to have a much stronger effect. I would like to have normal liver values. Please give me your recommendations. If dietary requirements are involved perhaps you could suggest a good reference guide. Best regards.

This is just minorly elevated AST and other liver markers are fine, you should not be worried.AST varies from day to day and everything below 60 is not cause for concern. You should just avoid excessive use of alcohol and hepatotoxic medications and check liver markers in 1-2 months.
