thank you for your query. eptoin (phenytoin) is an antiepileptic, which can give rise to congenital malformations in the child, like cleft palate, facial and limb deformities, mental retardation, cardiac problems, lung problems etc. Lamitor (lamotrigine) is another antiepileptic which can also cause congenital malformations (but safer than phenytoin) like cleft lip. lorazep 0.5mg is a benzodiazepine, which can also give rise to harmful effects in the fetus, like decreased respiration, etc. Moreover, a combination of more than one anti epileptic drug is another independent risk factor for harm to the fetus. If a patient with your complaints comes to me, I would first make a risk assessment about the current frequency of seizure and an approximate estimation of risk of future recurrence. based upon that, if at all I had to give prophylactic (preventive) anti epileptics, I would prefer to give only one relatively safe drug, like lamotrigine or carbamazepine with folic acid in adequate doses, rather than small doses of multiple drugs, thereby increasing the risk. i would suggest you to contact your treating doctor urgently about your plans for pregnancy and discuss the drugs needed to be taken. hope i ve been able to satisfy your query. please feel free to contact me for further clarifications. best of luck.
