Infant Was Scratched By Pet Dog. Applied Soframycin. Is This Correct Treatment?

My 7 months old grand daughter was scratched on her face by very loving pet dog by mistake yesterday. I have applied soframycin cream on it. While it is showing improvement, is it correct to put soframycin at all. Since then I am told by my son that it is not correct to put medicine on her face as babies at her age are not ready for medicines such as soframycin. Is it correct?

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Thank you for your query on Healthcare Magic.

Soframycin can be put on baby face.

But the important thing is to protect the child from rabies by checking the vaccination status of the dog for rabies vaccination.

Child needs full schedule of rabies vaccination with the advice of pediatrician if the dog is not vaccinated or incompletely vaccinated.

And the dog has to be monitored for 10 days from the date of bite.

Therefore I suggest you to consult the pediatrician for further advice.

Regards.
