I started tecfedera 9/1/15. Within two weeks I noticed a loss of central vision, and feared an exacerbation of optic neuritis. I made an appointment with my neurologist which was two weeks later of about four weeks after starting tecfedera. I was referred to an ophamologist which took another two weeks to schedule. The eye doctor found large, fast growing posterior sub capsular cataracts bilaterally. I was shocked since On 8/28/15, I had had a routine annual check up with the same ophamologist, and had no cataracts! So in less than 8 weeks I went from no cataracts to stage 7 cataracts. Coincidence? Or were the cataracts related to the addition of tecfedera? Biogen pharmacists says cataracts have not been reported in their clinical trials. What about post-distribution reports of tecfedera use for MS? Any report of cataracts?
