I Never Checked My Iud And The Dr Cannot Find It, Where Could It Have Gone ?

i never checked my iud and the dr cannot find it and im 8 wks preg today
I am 8 wks preg went to dr today baby"s heart rate is 156 and everything is fine. I had a mariena IUD 3 yrs ago after my second child and last pap dr could not find it which was last yr. Had a lower abdominal xray and we couldnt find it then either.. On my ultrasound 2day the dr thought he saw it tried to remove it but couldnt. I was sent to another complications OB and he opened the vaginal cannal and could not see any strings so he stated to not do anything at this time..... I am so scared if the IUD is there embedded somewhere else than I dont want to not carry my baby full term due to a dr stating that he cant find the IUD .... Where could it have gone? Would I have felt it if it fell out.??? Plz help me if you know anything about this and what I should do... : ) : (

Hello,
If your iud came out then its possible that you wouldnt notice that .However,if its in the uterus then it definitely should be seen on xray or ultrasound. If indeed its in the abdominal cavity then also it should be seen by xray/ultrasound.Ideally the iud should be taken out for a pregnancy to be successful. There can 2 scenarios:either its fallen out or its in the uterus or the abdominal cavity.Since you are pregnant, xrays should be avoided. But do another detailed ultrasound with a radiologist and see if it could be in the abdominal cavity or embedded in the wall of the uterus. If not found, you have to assume that its fallen out.
