I Might Have Heart Problems And I Am Freaking Out.

I need help! I might have heart problems and I m freaking out!!? I went to my doctor a couple of days ago to get a check up and my blood came out good except for having above average cholesterol. The EKG showed that my heart beats two times in a row about every six beats. I will be going to a heart doctor soon but I want to know what can cause this and what problems can it lead to. I m extremely scared! =/ I m 21, I have one kidney because I lost the other one to cancer when I was about 5. Also, I have been very lonely, depressed, and stressed out over the last couple years. Now that this is happening I m freaking out about how it is going to affect me. I have been going to the gym over the last couple of months. I don t have any problems while or after I workout. My chest is burning and feels tight right now but it might be because I’m freaking out right now. I do not drink or do drugs. When I m not thinking about the result of the EKG my heart does not bother me.

It is highly likely in a healthy 21-year-old that what you are describing are Premature Ventricular Contractions (PVC's) or Premature Atrial Contractions (PAC's). These are both very common, benign conditions. Your doctor is doing the right thing by being cautious and sending you to a cardiologist. You will very likely be told your heart is fine, so you should try to put this on the back burner until your cardiologist appointment. It's really not worth getting upset unless or until you have a reason to be, right?
