Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been told by my doctor that my bilirubin is high. My family have had liver cancer. Does this mean that I will have or have cancer of the liver. I am not a heavy drinker. I drink very litely - wine on holidays. My father, his mother, her brother and their mother have died of liver cancer. My aunt has liver problems, and her daughter has had liver problems. I will see my doctor tomorrow to get the results of the bilirubin test this time. I had a test last year and it was high, so he did this again. Any information is appreciated. I have tried to read about this problem and sometimes that can be negative info. I like to be prepared and want to know exactly what is wrong with me and what kind of treatment is available.
