I Felt Something "give" In My Right Knee 2 Months

I felt something "give" in my right knee 2 months ago, and when I lift my leg to step it feels "loose" or "unstable". This sensation is on the inside in the area of the Lateral Collateral ligament. I had an open acl and meniscal repair in 1998 and and arthroscopic meniscal trim and removal of my acl screws in Dec, 2014. As this has been going on for 2 months, and is affecting my quality of life in that if I even attempt to try to run, even when hurrying across the street, it feels like it is just going to give out. Is this something that is going to require me to visit my ortho surgeon?
