I am a 32 year old female and I have Chron's Disease (Terminal Illeitis)and also HHT. I had an abscess in my left groin area. I had an I & D on July 22nd. The surgeon prescribed Bactrim twice daily. I took it for almost 14 days and woke up yesterday morning with hives all over and chest pain. I went to the ER. They did 2 EKGs and 2 sets of cardiac labs. All came back fine. They gave me Benadryl and told me to stop the Bactrim and discharged me. I still had chest pain. I called my PCP and he said to start taking Prilosec. I called my GI she said take the Benadryl with Pepcid AC around the clock and she called in a script for Carafate 4 times daily. This morning when I woke up the chest pain is gone and the hives are fading but my hands are swollen and painful as are my feet! Im taking the Carafate and the Benadryl and Pepcid. Oh and my throat is sore and I have a really stuffy nose. What else can I do to aleviate the swelling? I can't go back on steriods. I just came off of Prednisone after being on it since February. Im also taking Humira since April however I havent taken a dose since I had the abscess (my GI docs orders) Ive tried soaking my hands and feet in cool water, elevating, ice. My hands look like catchers mitts. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
