Hurt On Left Finger. Middle Flange Is Swollen, Painful With Redness. Applied Ice. How To Cure?

I jammed my left ring finger in fall down some stairs approx 4 weeks ago. The middle flange is still swollen/painful with redness on the side, but I have almost full range of motion with almost no pain. When it happened, I did apply ice and taped the injured finger to the next one until the bruising and most of the swelling was relieved. I have tried to rest the finger as much as possible.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello!

Such long healing time indicates that your finger were most likely broken. Even if the symptoms at the beginning has not indicated it. After 4 weeks it is very hard to tell if your finger is healing property or not. That is why I suggest you to have fingers X-ray and you will find the answer. As hand fingers are very important, it is always good to take care property about its trauma. Even after 4 weeks there is still something that can be done in case of lack of bone symphysis.

Hope this will help.
Regards.
