Howto Treat Temple Injury?

Just got done playing softball. Before we even played about four hours ago, I was hit in the head with a softball during warm up catches (no - I was trying to field a ball during BP when it happened). It hit me in the temple area, and I immediately heard a PING and my entire body went numb. But I didn t lose conscienceness, and the numbness went away after just a few seconds. I went ahead and played because I wasn t light-headed or anything. Just a slight headache. Now I m home and wondering if I should be worried that I did something severe? There isn t really much swelling, and the headache is gone, but wondering what you think might have happened. Why did my body go numb for a few seconds? If it was a concussion, wouldn t I have lost consciecness or be dizzy or lightheaded

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It could be a minor contusion only.

Concussion or internal injury is unlikely.

As of now you can apply icepacks for symptomatic relief.

If symptoms persist you can consult a neurologist and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
