How To Withdraw From Effexor?

I started taking tamoxifen after breast cancer treatment. I was on a low dose of Sertraline for prior anxiety and panic attacks and mild depression. Dr had to switch me to Effexor, but not feeling good on it. I have not had depression in a long time, wondering if I could get off an antidepressant and just take klonopin or xanax as needed? Thoughts? Do they interact with tamoxifen?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Antidepressants and anti-anxiety medications do not interact with Tamoxifen. The side effects of Effexor will eventually fade away. However, if you decide to discontinue Effexor, please be advised to discuss with your doctor first. Effexor dose should be tapered down 75 mg every 2 weeks until discontinuing completely.
Please be advised to follow up with your doctor to see discontinuing Effexor is appropriate for you.

Hope I have answered your query.
