How To Wean Off Metoprolol Tartrate?

After an episode of tachacardia (130bpm for a few hours) I was put on Metoprolol Tartrate 25 mg 2x per day for the last 8 months. Will be weaning off this drug after experiencing several side effects. What is the recommended dose and timing for weaning after 8 months?

Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hello,

If you are not some one with a high blood pressure before the start of Metoprolol or do not suffer from a coronary artery disease, you can taper the medicine quickly. Take only one tablet per day for one week and stop.
The tachycardia may return. If it returns you should get an ECG done during the episode and may require further tests.
If you have further questions, I am available to help you.
