Hello,

Vocal cord dysfunction may occur due to side effects of certain medications, overuse or misuse of vocal cords, acid reflux, infection, injury, neurological problems, etc. Side effect of Lyrica is hoarseness, you are suggested to consult your treating doctor so that Lyrica dose can be monitored if required or replaced with medications that suits you better. In the meantime, you should give voice rest and rinse your mouth and gargle your throat with salt water 2-3 times a day.

Acid reflux may trigger VCD, take antacids and PPIs for relieve. You can take Acetaminophen or Combiflam, one SOS for relief from pain throat. You are suggested to get clinically examined by an ENT. Get blood and sputum or swab tests done. Get imaging and neurological tests done. Get the cause of symptom get treated at the earliest. Sometimes, it may take time to heal if its chronic, voice therapy is effective. In case of permanent VCD, you may be recommended surgery (VC injection, phonosurgery, tracheotomy, etc). Take liquid diet or semi solid diet so that your throat is not strained.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
