How To Treat Viral Arthritis?

Hi, I was diagnosed with viral arthritis (reactive arthritis) or chikungunya. Doc prescribed Etrobax, Bifocal and Omez D. Course is over but the joint pain is still there along with the swelling of the extremities (ankles, feet and toes; wrists, palms and fingers.) What are the other options now that the course is over?

Hi,

Reactive arthritis from viruses like chickunguniya can take months to settle. Most of the times, analgesics like Acetaminophen when needed, a diet rich in calcium and vitamin-D, along with regular physiotherapy will help the situation. Severe and resistant cases might need a course of steroids or drugs like HCQS (hydroxy chloroquine). These drugs are better taken under the guidance of a rheumatologist.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
