How To Treat Throbbing Pain Near Vein In Arm After Having Ortho Evra?

Hi I had Ortho Evra, the contraceptive patch on for a day and I experienced a deep throbbing pain near the vein in my right arm. I also felt a tingling/shiver-like feeling and decided to take the patch off. The pain in my arm however is still there, any advice on what I should do?

Hello,

The following are side effects of Ortho Evra Patch:
1) Skin irritation at the application site
2) Nausea
3) Vomiting
4) Abdominal bloating
5) Breast tenderness
6) Bleeding between periods
7) Swelling of ankles

The following are treatment options for pain in the arm:
1) NSAIDs like Ibuprofen can be taken daily twice for 3 days
2) Calamine lotion can be applied at the site of burning
3) If there is a clot at the vein, Thrombophob ointment can be applied

If the pain and burning sensation persists or worsens, please do contact a physician.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
