I have a throbbing pain on the outside of my left leg above the ankle. It awakens me at night and is intermittent through the day. I went to my primary doctor and she was puzzled. She didn t think it was a clot as it isn t tender or swollen. I am having a right occipital nerve root block tomorrow for headaches I ve been having for a year so I can t take anything with aspirin. She told me to come back in a week if it isn t better but I m kind of nervous???? YYYY@YYYY Thank you!
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
You have a typical pain on a typical area that is outside of ankle. This occurs in case of stress fracture of fibula. Ask your Doctor for a X-ray/CT scan or MRI of the are and you will a perfect diagnosis. A plaster cast for three weeks should solve your problem. Go on for the nerve block. Get the investigations. Give full rest to the affected leg, use stick for support or better take a full rest.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
