How To Treat The Salty Tasting Clear Mucous Caused After Much Coughing?

Been coughing for several days, produces a salty tasting clear mucous after much deep gagging coughing. Some of same type mucous in nostrils. Began in head, then chest. Used up bottle of liquid Musinex DM=also for cough. Did not seem to help but didn't use it consistently.

Hi, If I were your treating Doctor for this case of severe cough, i would straight away diagnose it as lower respiratory tract infection, which needed to be treated with antibiotics rather than with routine treatment for cough.
you require following investigation meanwhile the treatment for cough is taken, that is sputum examination for TB. so the prefereble antibiotic to start for you is tab.levofloxacin 500mg twice a day for five days.
Also i suggest you once to take an advice from the TB and chest physician to rule out the other possibilities.
Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.

Wishing you good health.
