Hi, may I answer your health queries right now ? Please type your query here... I'm being treated for stage 4 colon cancer and i had three more treatments to finish my first series and yesterday I found out I have MRSA at the surgercial site in my skull. How would you proceed the MRSA? Stop chemo till it's gone or wait for the anitbiotic to work a week or so?

Proctologist 's  Response
Hello,

Please do a culture and antibiotic sensitivity test of the surgical site infection discharge to find which organism (bacteria) exist, and to which antibiotics are they sensitive. Chemotherapy is for a larger cause and not stopped unless extremely indicated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Hello,

Since you have Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) infection. I would advise you to first treat the infection with a sensitive antibiotic, and then you can proceed with chemotherapy.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
