How To Treat Tender, Sore And Swollen Leg Along With Dark Spots?

I have a left swollen leg. Mainly the calf. In the past it has been tender and sore. Had a blood clot in it a few years about 13 years ago. But calf was swollen prior to that. Leg has dark spots on it that s very noticable. I don t wear shorts because of the spots. One is really big and looks like it has a dent in my leg. Before the spots developed my leg itched and after I scratched it the black spots just appearted out of nowhere

Cardiologist 's  Response
Hello,

These changes in the skin color are related to the chronic venous insufficiency in the leg. I recommend performing a Doppler ultrasound of the leg vessels. Consulsting with a dermatologist may be necessary to help with de-pigmentation creams.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
