How To Treat Swelling, mild Pain And Bruise In Knee Caused Due To An Injury?

I slipped and fell on the ice about a week and a half ago, landing on my hind end, but twisting my right knee (medial collateral ligament sp?) in the process. It is swollen and stiff with light bruising. Some pain, but tolerable.Kineseotaping (by my chiropractor) and ice packs (evenings) helps.Advil, mostly because of swelling.I don t see much improvement - although pain is minimal, the stiff/soreness hasn t gone away.Any recommendations?

1. Foment with hot water bag.
2. S.W.D. ( short wave diathermy)
3. Consult an Orthopaedic Surgeon:
. If no response to routine treatment
. If knee is swollen
. If there is wasting of Quadriceps muscles
. If there is excessive or large effusion
4. Use local application more liberally
5. Use walking stick to reduce the load on affected knee
6. Avoid climbing stairs, sitting on floor, as far as possible.
