Have had an extremely sore throat and sinus congestion for 5 days - no fever. My normal body temp runs about 97. Now am feeling short of breath and sweating - my temp is 96 w/temporal thermometer. Do these symptoms suggest the need for a doctor visit , or m I safe to wait this out as just a cold since there is no fever?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern...
As per your complain you have symptoms of UPPER RESPIRATORY TRACT INFECTION and it is viral in nature.. You need not to worry as a viral infection will follows its course and resolves in a period of about one week.. As of now you can take decongestants containing Pseudoephadrine [Sudafed]. Take anti-allergic like Allegra. As there can be a secondary bacterial infection you can take Azithromycin for 5 days.. Do steam inhalations, warm saline gargles.. Use a humidifier at home.. Take sufficient rest..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards.. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora..
