How To Treat Severe Wrist Pain Inspite Of Taking Ibuprofen For Pinched Nerves?

I have carpal tunnel in both hands I went to get the EMG a week ago. The Dr that performed the test said I have a pinched nerve in both wrist and it is severe. My follow up appt is not scheduled until Nov 3. I am in so much pain at night it feels like electric shocks and my fingers and finger tips itch like crazy. I called my Dr he told me to take ibuprofen it doesn t help the braces don t help I even have copper gloves and they don t help. What can I try and what do u think will be the Dr.s options on Nov 3?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI,
I understand your concern.
The treatment for pain following pinched nerve consists of-
-Rest to the part./ hot or cold compresses./ Tablet ibuprofen/ steroids pills or injectables ( local/ general).
- Physiotherapy under expert advise helps.
- Surgery is the last resort.
* You do not have relief with ibuprofen pills.
You should start with rest ( avoid painful movements, try hot/ cold compresses. Add steroid pills with advise of your family physician.. till you can meet the orthopedic surgeonwho will eavluate your case & advise specific treatment.
Thanks.
