How To Treat Red Itchy Rash Around The Groin Area?
For the last 2 months I have been experiencing a red itchy rash around my groin area, concentrated on my anus. There is a brighter red ring on the perimeter where the bumps are that is filled with a red center. I have tried cortizone cream and polysporin. Then a week and a half ago I thought it could be jock itch so I applied antifungal cream. That took the itch away, but not the redness or bumps. I am also using apple cider vinegar. But it has not gone away. I am getting really worried.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Nishad BN's Response
Hi Thank you for asking HCM. I have gone through your query. Your problem can be due to fungal infection like tinea corporis. For such condition I would recommend using anti fungal ointments like miconazole or terbinafine for local application. Taking oral anti fungal agents like fluconazole weekly once for 1 month is also recommended to stop recurrence. Avoid soaps and irritants to wash the area and instead you can use saline or warm water. Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear. Thanks.
