Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have had nausea/vomiting episodes fore the last five years. One episode lasted a good six months. No pain or stomach cramps. The nausea is the worst. No fever. one doctor suggested gastrophoresis. I am diabetic and he alluded this could have a connectuion. I lost 50 lbs with this episode. Over the five yrs. have had several episodes lasting a couple weeks. I have had stool specimens check for parasites which were neg. BW was negative for celiac disease. This episode started 3 wks ago and seems very debilitating caused by absolutely no energy. Also at this time I have a thirteen lb. wt. loss. I Would appreciate any suggestions. Sincerely, Leah DeCarolis
Dear I can understand your concern . I would like to inform you that nausea and vomiting in a patient of diabetes is suggestive of gastroparesis but the most important symptom with this is early satiety and gastric fullness . This can be treated with adequate blood sugar control and by taking prokinetic drugs that will help in bowel movement. I would like to emphasise that the weight loss as you have mentioned , is very significant and it's cause must be find out .It may be because of gastroparesis or it may be because of some malignancies in your stomach or food pipe. Complete work up for that is must. I would like to advise you that you must consult your physician for this weight loss work up and for prescription of some prokinetic drugs. Hope this will help you . If you have any other concerns please feel free to message me . Thanks for contacting HCM .
