How To Treat Keratosis Pilaris In Kids?

My 3 year old son had some routine blood work done after suspecting an infection. Everything was normal except one white cell count was elevated and doc said that one is usually associated with allergies. He did a basic allergen profile blood test which showed a low allergy to dairy and an undetermined allergy to wheat and eggwhites. Doc said to try an elimination diet for a few weeks (including eliminating all gluten) then try to reintoduce foods and watch for symptoms. The problem is, I didn't notice much in the way of symptoms in the first place other than having a runny nose all the time and a rash which doc said was keratosis pilaris. He also had patches of dry skin on his buttocks. I started the elimination diet and the runny nose and dry patch of skin is gone but he still has the rash. I want to see an allergist for further testing but doc said it is not necessary. What do you think?

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

You can consider visiting an allergist especially since the symptoms and results are not cut and dry.

An allergist may be able to interpret them differently and help you formulate a treatment plan.

I hope this helps
