General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Shingles can be associated with severe nerve related pain in some persons..

There are medications that help specifically with nerve related pain eg tegretol , gabapentin, lyrica, amitriptyline, nortriptyline, cymbalta.

These medications can be classified as anti seizure medications or anti depressant medications but they are used in persons with no history of depression or seizures who have nerve related pain as their main problem.

Your doctor can prescribe one of these for you.

I hope this helps
