How To Treat Dry Cough And Cold In Child?

My son is 4 1/2 year he is having little asthma problem ,now he have cough dry cough and my doctor suggest mi give him periton cs ,and he also have very little cold so they r not suggested any medicine for cold ,so please could u suggest mi any medicine which is effective in both ,dry cough and cold

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query your child has symptoms of dry cough and cold which could be due to streptococcal infection leading to strep throat. It could be due to upper respiratory tract infections. I would suggest you to take combination of antibiotics, anti-inflammatory and antihistaminic drugs. You should take amoxicillin with clavulunate, Ibuprofen along with steam inhalation. Nasal decongestants along with cough syrup will relieve symptoms. You should give child steam inhalation. Visit ENT specialist once if symptoms keeps on persisting and get it examined. Start treatment once proper diagnosis is confirmed. Keep sipping warm water as well.
