How To Treat Constipation In An Infant?

My son is a year and a 2 months. He cries when he tries to go to the restroom and I dont know if he is constipated because he does have a BM he just screams and strains to go. But when he does go it is a squirt or it, runny or pasty but never a lot or hard. He now developed a rash and I dont know if that is what causing him discomfort or not. Do you know if he is constipated or is he screaming because of his rash?

He is most likely screaming because of the rash around his anal orifice. Please start applying a zinc cream and a dusting powder to allow the rash to heal.
