Hello,

You are suffering from a bruise on the bottom of the foot due to heel coming out of your shoes. You have history of diabetes but are not on any diabetic medicine. You were prescribed Gabapentin-300, but you are still hurting. You are suggested to wear a comfortable pair of shoes that rightly fits your foot. Wear open shoes or sandals till your bruise heals.

Go to ER, get your bruise examined, get it cleaned and antiseptic bandage done. Visit ER or your health care provider every alternate day & get it cleaned and antiseptic dressing done. Control your blood sugar level at all cost, control your diet & if required take medicines to control sugar level so that the bruise heals at the earliest.

Keep your foot at rest, do not let it get infected. You will be given a course or oral antibiotics (augmentin) & analgesics to control inflammation and soreness. You are suggested to continue taking Gabapentin as it will help to reduce nerve pain. If the wound is deep your nerve may be affected.

Nerve repair takes time to get cured. You can get Nerve conduction velocity tests done to assess nerve damage. Take Nervup OD, once daily for 10 days. Take food good for the nerves. Above all control your blood sugar level as it may cause worsening of the symptoms. Stay away from addictions if any.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
