Neurologist 's  Response
Hello,

A stroke means that a part of the brain is irreversibly damaged due to lack of blood supply. Unfortunately that part of the brain is dead, can't be reversed.

Medication like Atorvastatin and Plavix serve merely to prevent other strokes in the future.

For the current damage only therapy is used, there are no other proven treatments. Some partial improvement may take place during the first 6 months, unfortunately after the first 6 months there is little chance of improvement.

There are experimental treatments like stem cell therapy but still in early stages, their value is not proven. I am sorry not to have been of more help.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Olsi Taka, Neurologist
