My son hit his left trapezoid area/collar bone area on the arm of our couch (the wooden part) this weekend, straight on. He is having a hard time moving the arm and there is a lump in the soft tissue area between his collarbone and his neck that is extremely sore to the touch. I am worried about a few possibilities: a clot, a piece of bone or hopefully a muscle knot. Hopefully I have described it in enough detail to have some peace of mind with some sort of answer. Thank you. Trish
it is best if you consult with a doctor, preferably a general or an ENT surgeon, for clinical evaluation. based from your description, it could be cervical lymphadenopathies which may be secondary to a recent upper respiratory tract infection. your neck lesion could also be of salivary or thyroid gland in origin. these tumor lesions are best evaluated clinically. neck ultrasound, ct-scan or a tissue diagnosis thru a biopsy may also be recommended. management (medical and/or surgical) will be directed accordingly.
hope this helps.
good day!!
