Hi, I had gone through your question and understand your concerns. Yes, ulcerative colitis may be difficult to treat although there is a wide range of treatment methods. AS I see, you have antibiotic and antiifnlammatory therapy with mesalazin which is used in combination with steroid or azatrioprin if necessary. So this is next step to include steroids. As a last medical therapy, there is a option of including biological therapy with Humira which is more expensive but more efficient. If this is not helpful then I am afraid that surgical resection is only option in intractable cases,but on the other side, this is permanent solution. Hope this answers your question.
