How To Test For Internal Injuries In Stomach And Chest In Children?
My friends child, 45 pounds stepped on my 20 month old son s chest/stomach. He was crying and turned red in the face. When I picked him up he seemed fine. He is thought to be autistic so he is non-communicative and can t tell me of any pain. Should I be concerned of any internal damage or rib fractures? I am not sure if she just stepped on him or if she could have jumped or bounced, I just saw her using him as a stepping stool.
Thanks for consulting. I have carefully worked through your case, and I can realize your health worries. Being your physician, I assure you not to worry as I will take care all of your medical concerns.
don't worry a baby can handle impact injury really well than adult. because most of their skeletal systems still comprises of cartilages which are flexible unlike adult bones which fractures. so the baby will have a least chance of rib fractures so also injury to any of the inner organ.
if you still are worried better taker the baby to a pediatrician. let him examine and look for any signs of injury.
Hope it helps. If you need further, detailed and quick assistance related to any health issues in future, feel free to 'ask me a question' directly from my profile.
Have a wonderful time ahead.
