Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Dear Sir/Madam I had a dogbite around three years before (Nov 2008) and I took five dose schedule of Ravipur that time. Now yesterday I had another dogbite and have taken one Rabipur yesterday. How many more to be taken and schedule of them. Secondly, how long the immunity persists? My age : 62 years, weight: 83 kgs. and medical history: bit hypertensive. Thanking you, ==T J Majumdar
Since you have been previously fully vaccinated against rabies by taking anti-rabies (Rabipur) you need to take two booster doses of Rabipur by intramuscular injection on days 0 and 3 following the dog bite. As per scientific evidence the Rabipur vaccine induces approximately 10 years of immunity against rabies.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician
