How To Switch A Period While On Viorele?

Hello! I'm taking Viorele right now and was looking to switch a period. I'm confused as to how to do this with Viorele because the 28 day pack states that only two of the days are inactive. Do I just skip the last 7 days which is normally the placebo pills?

Hi,

Thanks for the query.

I understand your problem. The last 7 days do not contain all inactive pills. 2 pills are inactive and the last 5 pills have a low dose estrogen. I suggest that you take all the pills. You will have your period while on the last seven pills. As soon as you get your period, stop viorele.

You will not be protected beyond this day. A backup method like condoms is recommended during first 7 days of switching to a new pill formulation. If you want to start using another pill you may begin from day 3 of your cycle or from day 1. You can also stop after taking the active pills and wait for the period.

Both the methods work.

Hope I was able to help you. Thanks for using Health Care Magic.
I would be happy to answer any further queries.
Have a nice day.
