How To Remove Excessive Wax From Ear?

I had ear wax cleaned out of my ears yesterday. Only one ear had a lot of wax. In that ear, a tiny amount of residual, hardened wax remained. I was subscribed Neomycin and Polymyxin B Sulfates and Hydrocortisone Otic Solution drops to use 3 times a day in both ears for 10 days. Is this really a good idea?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of excessive wax build up in the ear which is due to sinus discharge which seems to due to ear infection and accumulation of thick fluid behind eardrum. You should get it removed as it will lead to dizziness and impaired hearing. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and an otoscopic examination can help in diagnosis and treatment can be planned accordingly. Avoid use of q tip. Visit specialist and doctor may place tubes in ear to release the pressure and drainage. For infection in ear antibiotics oral as well as ear drops. you should put wax dissolving ear drops in ear and don't plug it with the help of cotton.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
