Hi,
LH surge is observed just before ovulation and is not an evidence of ovulation. It also depends on the type of monitor you have used. Please remember that in any ovulatory cycle, ovulation occurs two weeks prior to the onset of the next period and this is the fertile period. If you take the basal body temperature right from day one of the cycle, ovulation is indicated by the rise of temperature and this rise persists if conception occurs. Cramps can sometimes be experienced at ovulation owing to tubal motility. Please wait for your next period to get a HPT or you can go for a blood test 4-5 days prior to the next period. Hope this helps.
