How To Medically Confirm Manipulation Of Oxycodone Dosage?

I have been taking Oxycontin 40mg (1) 3 times a day & Oxycondone 5.325 1 every 6 hours for breakthrough pain. I have fibromyalgia, & 75% of my body has arthritis, & a fractured back with 3 compressed discs from falling down the basement stairs of my home. I am 70 years old, & have been on the meds for over 10 years. What I can t figure out is why is the government making a cutback on the Oxcodone for this drug being as it is a important part for me being in a somewhat good day as opposed to a day where I have to leave the day with it still up in the air as now I am told that even though I am a diagnosed disabled, that the government wants to cut back the Oxycodone for a period that I am told that this drug is being misused, & I can tell you that I am not abusing this drug but many are. I guess that the drug has been given out like candy by many doctors, & now I have to suffer as the Oxycodone does work in the between times, then even the Oxycodone in the prescribed way they say who is going to be using it & who will be cut down. Not fair, since I know that the younger people know if they don t do as the doctor does & asks them to shut down which attitudes & I really don t care attitude! I have Cat Scans & MRI s to prove my case on my body without the childish ways that even a first grader can figure out. But this is not tried & true for everyone. Just wanted to see what you say. Thanks

Hi,

Statistically, there is a decreased life expectancy if someone is on a large number of narcotics. Yes, these ARE wrong statistics the same way that people on chemotherapy also have a shorter life span---both are iller.

There was a large increase in deaths from opioids beginning in 2010 due to use of opioids for every type of pain. These drugs are dangerous and people using them often start having distorted thinking concerning them and physically get sick if the amount they take is decreased.

Reasonably, a middle ground of very closely supervised dosing of narcotics is being advised. Unreasonably, this is generally mandated to be done by physicians without training on addiction nor pharmacology but just ways to alleviate pain (anaesthesiologists). Mostly, though, and least reasonably, people are just thrown out of treatment without either care for pain nor drug dependency. Wackiness ensues.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
