How To Lower SGPT Level In Blood?

Hi, In a recent medical test it is found that my SGPT is 166.0. I am not an alchoholic and non smoker. I was not taking any medicines for any ailments. I do eat food from outside sometimes( approx 2 days in a week). My height and weights are 5 foot 7 inches,80 kg respectively. Could you please suggest how to lower this and why this has happened.

Hi,

What is your age? Do you have any fever, vomiting or jaundice now, or had in recent past? Any history of drug intake in recent past? Your SGPT is only marginally high. This can happen following a viral illness including viral hepatitis, intake of anti-pyretics or certain drugs including indigenous formulations. Even rigorous exercise can sometimes cause this.

If you do not have any related symptoms, I think you need not worry now. Just repeat the test after 2-3 weeks- most likely will normalise by then. Otherwise, we can proceed further.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam T. K., Pediatrician
