How To Determine Leukemia?

My mother is 87 & has been doing fine, a doctor informed her about a year ago that she had a mild form of Lukemia, nothing to worry about. Now, she is doing fine with no signs of cancer, & he wants to start her on Chemo. I want to get a second opinion from a qualified doctor, I do I go about this?

Welcome to HCM.
My dear friend first and very helpful investigation for diagnosing leukemia is complete blood count and peripheral blood film. Patients of leukemia may present with mild symptoms or may be asymptomatic usually in chronic leukemia. Chronic leukemia is common in old age an your mother is also of 87. Doctor continuously follows leukemia patients for his /her long survival. You should consult hematologist with your mother's earlier complete blood count reports and other done investigation. I suggest you to consult as soon as possible.
Thanx for query.
