How To Cure Infections Due To Missing Cartilage Inside The Ear?

My 20 year old grandaughter has no cartilage over the bones in her inner ear. She had multiple unsuccessful surgeries, including something from a pig to cover the bones which ultimately rejected. She is experiencing constant infections because her bones are exposed. What would be a permanent solution?

Infectious Diseases Specialist 's  Response
Hello,
I understand your concern.
I am Dr. Arun Tank, infectious diseases specialist, answering your query.

Bone grafting is the pernanant solution for this problem.

If the bone grafting for the pig is rejected than autograft is the final solution of the problem.

Auto graft will allow your daughter to aid in hearing.

You can take antibiotics under your doctors guidance. It will cure infection and helps in healing.

I will be happy to answer your further concern, you can ask me on bit.ly/DrArun.
Thank you.
