How To Cure Breathlessness Caused Due To Alcohol Intake?

Hi I have a reasonably healthy lifestyle and eat well. I have never been a heavy drinker other then my 3 years at university when I was a typical student. Since then I do not drink often and only occasionally at parties. I have however, realised when I have had a few drinks that I am it feels struggling to breath. It feels as though I cannot get the oxygen into my lungs despite me trying to breath harder. I struggle to talk and breath at the same time and often have to go outside to get fresh air despite the venue being smoke free.

Psychiatrist 's  Response
an alcohol is a respiratory depressant, therefore, an alcohol intake is likely to aggravate an underlying respiratory problem.
I suggest to abstain from alcohol, or cut down the amount if you are chronically using it, as a sudden abstinence can prcipitate withdrawal.
second, consult a chest expert to find out the respiratory cause, an XRay and Pulmonary function test is advisable.
Third, after dealing with the medical cause, consult a psychiatrist for proper alcohol detoxification and rehab, it's imp as alcohol in long term will cause liver and respiratory problems as in your case.
