hi, milk protein allergy is also called as lactose allergy. It is seen in small babies, that a number of babies have allergy to lactogen in present in milk. in these babies, we prefer to give formula feed made from soya milk. You can also do stool for reducing sugar test. This will tell us whether the child has cow milk allergy or not. if there is reducing sugar present in stool then chances of cow milk allergy are high end cow milk should be stopped and formula feed containing soya milk should be given. Take care.

Hi. My 7 month old baby gets rashes on her face when she is fed lentils, chicken or wheat flakes. Se is also suspected as having a cow s milk protein allergy as she was getting blood in her poop. She is due to have an allergy test in Jan 2012. I have been instructed not to give her any diary and that I stay away from dairy as well as I am still breast feeding her. She has not had any dairy since birth and is refusing to drink allergy management formulas from a bottle. She is now underweight for her age. Can you please advise if I can continue giving her something rich in protein like meat, lentils etc. as these are causing a rash on her face as well. Thanks
