Hi,

Just having abnormal sensory experiences does not necessarily mean that you have schizophrenia. A lot of factors would need to be assessed before you can be diagnosed with schizophrenia. It will be better if you can consult a psychiatrist and discuss these issues with him. Even if you have schizophrenia, there are medicines which can help control the symptoms.

Best wishes.

Psychiatrist Dr. Seikhoo Bishnoi's  Response
Hello welcome to HCM

You are seeing objects and hearing voices which other are not sensing. You have also experienced heightened smell and you are smelling which others are not smelling. See these symptoms are nothing but hallucinations. Hallucination is perception without stimulus.

You will perceive (hearing voice) while other will not perceive these things. This is one of major symptom of schizophrenia. As these symptoms are causing significant distress to your life as per my opinion you should see a Psychiatrist.

These days good medicines are available which are also devoid of side effects. There is no need to worry and visit a psychiatrist for expert evaluation.

Thanks
